May 29th, 2022 at 11 am: Deadlifts & Dogs @ JBF in Medford, MA
Deadlifts and Dogs is back for its second year! Celebrate Autism Acceptance with Alyssa Orlando of AO Powerlifting and Jessie Burdick from Jburdie Fitness on May 29th, 2022, for this fun filled event.
Lift your heaviest deadlift and get friends and family to pledge each pound you lift for Cambridge Rindge and Latin School to Work Program!
Last year we raised $11K and we hope to match or exceed this year!
Winter Hill Brewing will be serving fresh beers and of course there will be hot dogs (and veggie dogs) for sale! Come lift or watch - each and every penny counts! Rain or shine!
Photos will be taken at the event by Zac Wolf with more vendors and sponsors to be added.
Please share this page with friends and family who may be interested in participating, spectating, or pledging! Pledges will be calculated against your best lift, not your three lift total.
Awards
We will awarding the most weight lifted in the in Male, Female and Mx categories, as well as Best Equipped Lifter!
There will also be other awards given like Most Pledges, so get your fundraising on!
What To Expect on Meet Day
This will run like a deadlift only meet or a “mock” meet!
Here is how a deadlift only meet is run if you are not familiar:
You get three attempts to deadlift on the D&D platform!
For the first attempt, people tend to choose a weight they can do somewhat easily on any given day but still a challenge!
For the second attempt, choose a weight you can do 1-2 reps of!
For the third attempt, choose something that is the heaviest weight you’ll lift that day, usually a personal record or maybe something you've never lifted before.
Of course, everyone has their own meet day strategy so pick whatever works for you!
The entire flight will last about 20-30 minutes and then after you can grab a beer and a hot dog and watch the rest of the meet!
Please email jessie.burdick@gmail.com or alyssacfrey@gmail.com with any more meet day questions
