Six Reasons Why I think Strength Training is King…
Strength Training is Empowering. It’s easier to focus on other things than your body weight and how you look when you begin training with weights. It shows you what your body is capable of and that is powerful, my friends.
Strength Training Makes You Strong (duh). But what I mean is that, lifting weights can make you feel like you are equipped to not only handle heavy loads in the gym but other heavy shit in your personal life as well. It can put these things into perspective.
Strength Training gives you that toned look you are searching for. Not everyone but a lot of people tell me they want defined arms, legs, back, and stomach. Lifting weights builds muscle, the combination with proper nutrition will show off your hard work within time. Which bring me to reason number 4.
It teaches you patience. Results don’t happen overnight or even within 1-2 months. This is true for any form of exercise. Getting strong takes time. There is nothing easy or fast about lifting. Just putting in CONSISTENT effort day after day will yield results. I wish I could say something more profound than this, But trust me, you will get there.
You have more energy to do day to day tasks. Lifting is rejuvenating and helps keep your body strong for the long haul (think longevity wise). Playing with your kids with ease, carrying heavy things, being all around more self sufficient becomes a reality when we lift heavy and lift often. Personally, I really like this idea about being more independent, especially as a women.
It makes you feel bad ass and meet people with like-minded goals. The way you feel when you realize you are a strong, independent person will build a new confidence that quite literally make you feel bad ass. Meeting people with similar goals is a huge part of your success in and out of the gym. It’s true the people you keep close will make or break you. I have found that where you physically lift is a huge piece of the puzzle. A positive and encouraging environment matters! The right people will be excited for your success in the gym and the wrong people will be jealous. Drop these losers from your life and start lifting with a cool crew!
